3D Printing

Hey everyone,

I had a few quick questions before I jump into the 3D printer world.

• Out of the printers available, which one is currently working the best or most reliable?
• What slicer software are you using with them?
• Do you have PETG available, or mainly PLA?
• What’s the best way to bring in and run my own STL files (USB, network, etc.)?

Looking forward to getting started and learning the setup.

Hi Adam.

I have been out of the country for 5 months, so my info here may be a bit outdated 😉..

I’ve had good success with all of the stacked printers, but I like to use either of the bottom two just for the ease of changing filaments.

I use Qidi Studio (free download) for the slicer, as the PC by the craft area has it and it connects to the printers. I have it loaded on my own computer so I can test the STL files at home before bringing it to print.

There are several different kinds of filaments available in the tote near the printers. PLA, PTEG, ABS, and ASA.

You can use any that is there unless it has been marked “NO HACK”. You can also purchase your own if you wish.

If you create your STL files at home, then a USB drive can be plugged into the above PC. Some members also bring in their own laptop and the network it in to the Makerspace WIFI and then print from there.
