Woodturning Workshops

Hello everyone. Its a little late in the year, but if you still need a Christmas gift for someone, I will be offering more woodturning classes in the New Year. I have scheduled several with non-members already, but I am planning to have spots open for each Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon in January and February. I can add the dates to the calendar if needed, but don't be surprised if you see a few people in the Industrial Arts room on those days.

For members of the Makerspace or people they gift the class to, the original rate of $40 per person will still apply, with all of the money going to the Makerspace. Ideally, each class will have 2 people, but for members or people who know each other, we could have more if everyone is comfortable taking turns on the lathes.

I will stick to three projects, the wooden vases, pens, and tea light candle holders. You can reply to the thread, text me at (seven)80-937-374(nine), or email andrewbuchner37 at gmail dot com with the date you'd like, and the project you have in mind. Posted below will be my current schedule with available dates, I can update the photo over time:

Hello! Starting in October, I will be running a series of woodturning workshops at the Space. The first will be on Saturday, October 11th, and they will happen either weekly or bi-weekly, depending on my personal availability. Two different projects will be available, probably alternating each time, a small flower vase with a glass insert & a wooden pen class. Each should take around 2-3 hours, depending on the number of people.

We will be able to have 2 lathes at the same time, so at least two people can be turning at once, and potentially four or more people could participate if they can take turns on the lathes between the different steps of the project. The focus will be on learning basic turning techniques and safety, at both the lathe and in the Industrial Arts room overall.

Cost for the workshop will be $40-45, basic pen kit/blank and a wooden vase blank will be provided, but more premium pen blanks and kits will be available for an additional charge. $40 from each workshop entry will go to the Makerspace. In the next day or two, I will create the event listing for the first date on the 11th, and will post further dates down the road. This event will be open to members and non-members, but I can give preference to members depending on demand.

I will also be advertising workshop dates in January and February as potential Christmas gifts while selling at craft markets this fall.
